Tadpoles

It's amazing how fast nature kicks into gear at the end of the winter. You blink and you miss it.
While us humans are still waiting for the cherry blossoms to bloom before we come out of hibernation, in the hills and valleys spring the spring party has well and truly started.
On the weekend I spent a few hours walking around some rice field valleys to see how things were going and was surprised to see that in some places tadpoles had already hatched.
These are Montane brown frog (yama akagaeru) tadpoles. they always lay eggs in february, even if there is snow on the ground as long as they can find water.
