前回の写真の手前の砂の上の、若いマングローブの木に気づきましたか？
パラオはマングローブの原生林は多かったです。
パラオと言えば、白い砂のビーチのイメージが浮かぶけど、実は砂浜は少ないです。
パラオの海岸はほとんどはマングローブか石灰岩です。マングローブは小魚やカニにとって、重要な環境です。
今日はマングローブの若い木の写真をご紹介します。
Did you notice the young mangrove trees growing on the sand in the foreground of the last photo I posted? Palau had really healthy mangrove forests, which were great fun to photograph. Travel brochures for Palau are full of white beaches, but in reality Palau has hardly any beaches.
Most of Palau coastline is either mangroves or coral limestone, which is one of the reasons why it is such an incredible habitat for marine life. Here is a photo of a young mangrove tree on a low tide at sunrise.
